Can i rent a room from my apartment to someone?

Ok so me and my boyfriend currently live in a 2 bedroom apartment. We are thinking about renting our extra room out to someone since we sleep in the same room and dont use it. Plus it would help up save some money on rent. Is this ok? Do we have to put this person on the lease?

    Talk to your apartment manager. Most likely they will want a background check and if it comes back okay, it should be fine.

    Subletting is typically ILLEGAL!! You CANNOT just move people in when you rent!

    This is ONLY legal if the landlord agrees to it. IF they do, then expect them to require some input on who you let in and require that they be added to the lease.

    The person if you do background checks on the manager and they will have to approve this with.
