I was planning on buying a phone card and making calls to home/work in the US from the room or any phone. However, when I want to call or text my business colleagues I was thinking I could rent a cell phone. How and where do you do this? Does it makes sense for a short trip? How much does it cost?

I’m Bulgarian, 22 years old and I’ve been studying in Germany for the last few years. I’m graduating from university and I’m interested in working in England for a year or two. Even though I could continue studying for a Master’s, I’d prefer to take a break, see how the real life works and figure out what I really want to do with my life. Otherwise I think a Master’s would be a waste of money and time.
First, I want to know about the living costs in London. I know it’s one of the most expensive capitals so I’d like to know how much approx. it’d cost to rent a room (of course cheapest possible but still decent). Would you maybe recommend living outside London and traveling to the city? Where? What would the other min monthly costs be – food, transport, etc.?
And do you think it’s feasible for a foreigner like me to find a job within a month? Of course, I’d like to work something related to my studies (social sciences) but for a start I’d not mind having a job to pay the rent.

Thanks!

Hi all,

Next year I’m going to move to London (April) to study English for six months. I’m worried about the prices for room there, so I’m trying to find out about what alternatives I have. Is it possible to get a dorm in a College even if I’m not studying there? because people have told me is cheaper. I’m going to study at The English Studio.

Any suggestion of a dorm in college? neighborhood? others?

Thanks!

Is there anything special I should consider while choosing the room?
Or any special advise dealing with the landlord?

Thanks in advance

I need to practise but I don’t currently own a piano, as my place is too small. Does anyone know where I could rent a practise room with a piano for about an hour or two somewhere in London?

Thank you so much for your help.

I am considering spending a few months in London, for business and tourism.

I am an American, so, naturally, I require a certain standard of living. I would want my rental property to include covered space for at least two cars, and I need a sizeable yard for my own recreational purposes (at least half a hectare).

I recently did this in a country called Sierra Leone down in west Africa. I rented a large, 15 hectare plantation with a manor and a large swimming pool for a month, and simply relaxed. I had a staff of 10 people along with my own private security brought in from the states to secure the grounds. It was superb and very relaxing.

Would I be able to rent reasonable quarters in London with room for cars and recreation for £45,000 per month or less? I would only be staying for around 90 days, in accordance with the visa waiver rules, so I can afford to pay a bit more than I’d usually consider.
